DESCRIPTION

Over 400 years ago, Kea plums were discovered growing beside a remote tidal creek on the Tregothnan estate. Unique to Cornwall, these plums exist on just 25 acres of land along the banks of the river Fal in the village of Kea. Tregothnan is working to protect these ancient orchards and to secure Protected Designation of Origin status for the Kea plum species.

This Kea Plum Jam is dark, delicious and deep-flavoured. Kea plums are shaken from the trees into a boat and used to create the most divine and rich jam. The perfect accompaniment to a cream tea!

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Kea plums are from Tregothnan's orchard, and grown on just 20 acres of land by the river Fal at Coombe in Cornwall. The plums are still harvested how they used to be done, by shaking them off the trees onto blankets.

These rare plums thrive on the shores of the river Fal. Thought to be extinct, the historic fruit may be related to a plum traded from Portugal during the 17th century and flourished at Coombe in Tregothnan’s subtropical microclimate.
