The depth of flavour comes from a rare amelonado cacao, originally cultivated in the upper Amazon region. Its taste is evocative of the intensity of the last mountain gorillas that inhabit Virunga National Park.

Virunga is one of the most beautiful and naturally richest regions in the world, in addition to being home to Africa’s oldest nature park. Sadly, its unique geology has been a focal point for centuries of resource exploitation, and resultingly has become an emblem for the struggle to defend the beauty of nature against powerful external interests.

SUPPORTING LOCAL FARMERS & ECOLOGY

Each purchase of earthy Virunga 70% supports its farmers rebuild sustainable livelihoods around Africa’s oldest park, in addition to participating in successful health education and cacao training programs. Over three million trees have been planted and deforestation rates have halved since the beginning of the cacao project, helping protect the last of the mountain gorillas.
