THE PIURA VALLEY
Born from the dry, desert valleys in Piura, Northern Peru, the ultra-rare Piura Porcelana white cacao was nearly extinct before it was rediscovered in 2007. The region had suffered from years of deforestation which in turn worsened drought. With the support from Original Beans and due to its lively fruit flavours, Piura cacao has become one of the highest awarded beans worldwide
SUPPORTING LOCAL FARMERS & ECOLOGY
In partnership with Norandino, a regional farming cooperative, in 2016 alone, more than 100.000 trees were planted, whilst protecting 2,800 hectares of dry forest, home to the endangered puma and a huge diversity of birds and butterflies.
