PRODUCT INFORMATION

ORIGINAL BEANS CHOCOLATE WITH CACAO FROM CUSCO VALLEY PERU
CUSCO VALLEY CACAO
Heirloom Chuncho cacaos have survived millennia in the Urubamba Valley. The old and sturdy Chuncho trees grow at an altitude thought impossible to farm cacao, and are from a range of different varieties rather than a homogenous group. Tastes of dried flowers and grass mark the altitude of this extremely rare Chuncho cacao.
CUSCO VALLEY
Machu Picchu, the astonishing citadel built by the ancient Inca, overlooks the Urubamba Valley in the Peruvian Andes. Also known as the Sacred Valley, it stretches roughly 60 kilometres from Pisac to Ollantaytambo. and is an area of rich and fertile farmland – perfect for cultivating crops and cacao.
SUPPORTING LOCAL FARMERS & ECOLOGY
Original Beans helps to propagate and preserve old-grown Chuncho cacaos. They educate farmers in organic and forest-friendly agricultural practices, preserving the cacao forests and protecting the mountainous slopes and watersheds from erosion. The cacao also helps to support a Condor conservation project with Cochahuasi Animal Sanctuary.
