PRODUCT INFORMATION
ORIGINAL BEANS CHOCOLATE WITH CACAO FROM ARHUACO LANDS COLOMBIA
ARHUACO LANDS CACAO
The Arhuaco farmers preserve the ancient cacaos through a harmonious relationship with nature. Heights of sweet spice, liquorice and sesame rise gently in this select tribal cacao made according to ancient Arhuaco tribal traditions. The new cacao is known as “Businchari,” a “new beginning” for the culture after near destruction by foreign settlers.
ARCUACO ANCESTRAL LANDS
The Arhuaco ancestral lands in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park have ecosystems ranging from coral reefs to rainforests to snow-capped mountains. At the sacred sites on the Caribbean shores of La Lengüete, they have initiated the revival of a select tribal cacao culture, the ancient criollo blanco.
SUPPORTING THE ARHUACO & ECOLOGY
The projects here empower the Arhuaco tribe to make a better living and protect one of the most biologically diverse rainforests on Earth, including virgin rainforest areas now protected through conservation agreements. A forest-friendly land use model has helped establish nurseries for the cacao and other native wood species.
